Kinesio Taping offered through St. Joseph’s Breese Rehab

(Breese, IL) – In conjunction to physical and/or occupational therapy, kinesiology taping can help provide optimal outcomes with improved function and less pain in acute and chronic conditions, and it is safe for people of all ages.

HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese Rehab staff members Courtney Hollenkamp, PT, and Kurtis Chapman, PTA, have completed the RockTape Functional Movement Techniques (FMT) Level 1 Taping Certification (Commercially Accredited).

Kinesiology Taping has been around for a number of years, but has become more popular recently.  Many high level athletes use the kinesio tape to enhance performance while providing support and stability with movement. You may remember seeing several athletes wearing the colorful stripes during the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Brazil.

Kinesiology tape is used to assist in treating a variety of conditions including pain, swelling, and posture problems. Helping with edema and scar mobility following total joint replacement is a prime example.
Neurosensory input with stability to treat pain following a stroke can also be achieved with kinesiology tape.

For more information or to determine if kinesiology taping would be beneficial for you, please contact HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese Rehabilitation Department at the HealthPlex at (618) 526-5436.
